That's a great idea. I'm not that familiar with the layout of DPCC, but I can check on that and get some answers. Having part or all of the event outdoors might be a lot of fun. We can be a rowdy group, but I'm sure we'll all want to follow the guidelines of the Sac County Public Health Officer. These have been changing lately, and they're a bit complicated. Right now, people are allowed to dine in restaurants, but the capacity has to allow for social distancing. According to a recent (June 19) article on CapRadio, "gatherings of any size are still banned" -- but I can't confirm this. We're all hoping things will improve by September 26.
By now, those of you who are on our mailing list should have received the brochure with details of the reunion and a registration panel to send in for those wishing to register the “old fashioned” way. Thanks to those who have sent money via check or through the website (RioClassof75.com).
It's understood there is ample concern due to the unique situation we are in because of the Coronovirus. The brochure was sent out after discussions with Del Paso CC as we try and get a handle on whether the Reunion can go on roughly 4 months from now. The consensus was that unless there is a significant change for the worse, things will be normal enough that we can move forward and the reunion will take place as planned.
We understand that many people may have their own unique concerns and may want to wait to sign up to see how things evolve. We respect that and as a result have put into place a Plan B (so to speak). Because there has been, and will continue to be a significant financial commitment as the reunion nears, we are setting July 31st as a make or break date to make a final decision if the reunion will take place. Simply put, the decision will be based on the number of people who have signed up by that time. Under normal circumstances we would have a solid indication of the number(s) by then. There are no plans to re-schedule at a later date but if that changes we can address it should that come up.
Here's what we need from all of you. If you want to go, please sign up ASAP, via check (use the registration on the brochure) or the website (PayPal-$2 more). If by chance the event has to be cancelled for any reason, we have the ability to refund your registration money. We hope this helps folks that are on the fence or are just holding off registering due to current events. We hope you can help us out and provide every chance to get together on September 26th.
Thanks for helping out everyone. Don’t forget to check out the website and participate via the forum. Set up a new stream to discuss the reunion and help get people involved and excited. For our part, we’ll do the best we can to keep you informed as things progress.
Thanks for the update. The CV issue continues to evolve and is becoming a little better understood as time goes on. It now appears the risk of contracting is less with outside gatherings, and with protocols such as social distancing and masks, than with closer social gatherings held inside. As I remember, Del Paso CC has a large outside deck/terrace and may have other outside spaces to accomodate large groups. Would it be feasible to move the event, or at least a part of it, outside? Does DPCC have any protocols in place that they're following at this time for big get togethers? It might also be helpful to let folks know the reunion will be following the CV protocols in place with the County at the time of the reunion assuming it goes forward. Who knows where we'll be with the virus then. Are large gatherings allowed by the county health officials currently?
Thanks for all you guys are doing to put this together.
